Dr. Mahendra Sharma is Professor with the Department of Management in the area of Strategic Management and Marketing.
He joined the Department as a faculty after working with leading FMCG & Garment MNC's for couple of years in various capacities in sales. Dr. Sharma possesses rich experience in the areas of Rural Marketing, Sales & Distribution Management, Services Marketing, Retail Management and Consumer Behaviour. He has numerous illustrious papers in Journals and National/International level Seminars & Conferences. He has completed several Quality Enhancement Workshops and Training Programs at Institutes of repute in the country.
Dr. Sharma has been constant source of inspiration for academic events in the Institute. Under his leadership the Department every year organizes International Conference on Emerging Practices in Management; Teacher Training Workshop for Case-Writing and Research Methodology; Students activities like National events viz., Pratibha (National Summer Project Contest), Protsahan (National Management Games Event), National level Symposiums on various Management Themes and Student e-magazine. Under his guidance the Department has successfully published bi-annual refereed Management Journal ‘GFJMR’ since 2011.
Apart from developing Department of Management, Dr. Sharma has played vital role in the evolution of University and its various activities. He is source for initiation of several initiatives of the University as also framing of several policies. He is provided leadership to Centre for International Alliances and industry-focused Centre for Management Studies. He was also Nodal Officer for Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET 2006, 2007 and 2008) for MBA admissions in Gujarat State. Dr. Sharma is Advisor and Member of Advisory Boards of several Institutes’ in the country including Indo-US Global Education Summit held during November 2010 in Hyderabad.
Under his dynamic and able leadership as Centre for International Alliances, the University has entered into agreements with Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia; Kaplan Business School, Adelaide, Australia; Penn State University, Penn State, USA; Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, Tornto, Canada; Panh Chiet University, Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Royal University of Law and Economics, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The University has started joint degree programs, student and faculty exchange programs, internship programs and pathway programs with the said universities.
Dr. Sharma is Chairman of Doctoral and M.Phil. Program in Management of the University. He has been examiner to Ph.D. Thesis in Management for various Universities. He has ten registered students under him for Ph.D. work currently. Till date seven M.Phil. dissertations and five Ph.D. degree has been successfully completed under his guidance.
